CBD oils and tinctures

Want a Daily Oil

Tinctures with Full Control

Oils and tinctures are the most flexible way to take CBD. The marked dropper lets you adjust your amount in small increments instead of being locked into a fixed serving, and taking it under the tongue means faster absorption than gummies or capsules, usually 15 to 45 minutes. We carry full spectrum, broad spectrum, and isolate options in multiple strengths so you can match the formula to your situation.

Gummies, Capsules, and Softgels

If measuring drops isn’t your thing, premeasured formats keep it simple. Every gummy, capsule, and softgel contains an exact milligram amount, so there is nothing to calculate and nothing to spill in your bag. They travel well, they are discreet anywhere, and they make a consistent daily routine effortless. Gummies for people who want flavor, capsules and softgels for people who want zero fuss.

Creams and Balms for the Skin

Topicals are CBD you apply instead of ingest. Creams, balms, and salves go directly onto the skin exactly where you want them, and because they are not swallowed, nothing meaningful enters your bloodstream. That makes them the one format with essentially no drug test consideration. A practical option if you want to use CBD without taking anything orally.

Non-GMO CBD Products for Every Lifestyle

There are many options to choose from when it comes to enjoying CBD. At The Hemp Doctor, we carry a wide variety of CBD product formats, run more like a proper CBD products online shop than a handful of SKUs.

CBD Edibles

If you’re looking to buy CBD products that are discreet, easy, convenient, and incredibly tasty, there’s no better option on the market than edibles. It’s a sweet way to consume CBD in the form of some of your favorite blended CBD chocolates and CBD lollipops

CBD Gummies

Gummies infused with CBD are the #1 CBD format most consumed in the US. It’s perfect for beginners, and nearly 1 in 3 first-time CBD verified buyers choose gummies to unwind. Plus, gummies are discreet, portable, and come in a variety of flavors and deliver long-lasting effects.

CBD Drinks & Powder Mixes

These product formats let you consume CBD in liquid form or mixed into water or other beverages. Some of our cannabinoid seltzers have CBG in them, and we also give our customers options like an on-the-go CBD powder packet that can be easily stirred into any beverage.

CBD Softgels

Softgels are a no-fuss way to take your daily CBD, as each softgel contains a pre-measured serving and has a neutral flavor, perfect for those who dislike the taste of tinctures or edibles. CBD softgels are ideal for people who want a consistent, easy-to-swallow option that works well with a busy lifestyle or travel.

CBD Oil Tinctures

Tinctures are a concentrated liquid form of CBD, packaged in a dropper bottle with markings for easy portioning. A big reason why customers love CBD tinctures is their versatility. You can put a tincture in a drink, a savory recipe, or simply drop some on your tongue.

Another significant advantage of this option is how fast-acting it can be. Dropping some CBD tincture on your tongue means you’re absorbing it sublingually, avoiding the lengthy process of digestion, which lowers the bioavailability of the cannabinoid.

CBD Topicals

CBD topicals are a unique cannabinoid product because they offer targeted support to problem areas. These products come in creams, lotions, balms, salves, and more, and they can be rubbed directly to whatever generally bothersome area you have. Depending on the formulation, they can feel like menthol or warm.

Pet CBD

CBD is for your furry friends, too. The Hemp Doctor Pet CBD products are specially formulated for cats and dogs. We have ones available in peanut butter, softgels, soft treats, and tinctures.

How We Make Our CBD Products

Sourcing

Our CBD starts with our own proprietary strain of phytocannabinoid-rich hemp, grown in the nutrient-rich soils of Colorado and North Carolina, under the standards set by the 2018 Farm Bill.

Our farmers use 100% organic practices paired with a high-tech growing process for consistency. All plant material is tested before harvest, and every batch is traceable back to its origin farm, no imported biomass, no anonymous middlemen.

Extraction

Every CBD product we make starts with the same method: supercritical CO2 extraction, solvent-free from the start, with nothing left behind to purge out later. From there, the path depends on the product type.

Full-spectrum extract keeps the plant’s complete cannabinoid and terpene profile, including CBD, CBDA, CBG, CBN, CBC, and Delta 9, alongside naturally occurring terpenes and flavonoids, working together for what’s known as the entourage effect.

Broad spectrum goes through an additional chromatography step to strip THC down to non-detectable levels while keeping everything else intact. Isolate is refined further still, down to pure crystalline CBD.

Select products go a step further with our proprietary nano-emulsion technology, breaking particles down to 25-60 nanometers for up to five times greater bioavailability than oil-based formulas, and four times greater than other water-soluble hemp oils, meaning less product delivers the same effect.

The finished extract is formulated into oils, gummies, capsules, softgels, and topicals at exact milligram amounts.

Lab Testing

Every product goes through our in-house testing and is verified by an accredited, independent third-party lab using HPLC methods before it’s listed for sale.

Tests cover the full cannabinoid profile, including confirmation that THC content matches the spectrum type on the label, plus pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents, and microbial contamination.

In a mid-2026 survey of 848 of our customers, more than one in four cited third-party lab testing and COA transparency as reasons they chose their hemp brand, so we make it a point to diligently update the COAs for our products linked on the Lab Results page

Our plain-language guide to reading one is in our blog “How to Read a COA for CBD & Delta 8 THC Products.”

What is CBD & What First-Time CBD Users Usually Feel (and Don’t Feel)

Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, ranks as the second most prevalent compound of the cannabis plant. In certain cultivars, CBD content can soar up to 25%. CBD is deemed “generally well tolerated with a good safety profile” by the World Health Organization (WHO), with notes of “no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.”

Don’t expect instant, dramatic results with CBD. 36% of our customers ranked CBD as the mellowest of all cannabinoids. It doesn’t always create strong sensations, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t doing its job, or that your body doesn’t respond to it. The effects are often more gradual than instant, given that you’re taking it regularly over time. It could take a few days to a few weeks of consistent dosing before you notice subtle improvements.

Curious if CBD does anything at all? So were we, so we asked 848 real customers instead of guessing:

EffectHow common
At least one noticeable cognitive or mental effect90.8% of users
Reduced mental chatter or overthinking52.2% of users
Increased creativity or lateral thinking38.8% of users
Improved focus on a single task32.3% of users
Difficulty concentrating (less common, but real)13.7% of users

How CBD Works in the Body

To understand why CBD feels different for different people, you need to know a little about the endocannabinoid system, or ECS. The ECS is a signaling network found in all mammals, including humans, that helps regulate functions like mood and sleep. Think of it as a background management system your body runs constantly, using molecules called endocannabinoids (produced internally) and receptors called CB1 and CB2 to keep things in balance.

CBD does not bind directly to these receptors the way THC does. Instead, it modulates the system more indirectly, influencing how the receptors respond to other signals and slowing the breakdown of the body’s own endocannabinoids. This is part of why CBD is non-intoxicating; it does not hijack the receptor the way THC does.

CBD Spectrums Explained

When shopping, you’ll notice that CBD products seem to be categorized into one of three spectrums: full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum, or CBD isolate. Here’s what each means.

Full Spectrum CBD

This type of formulation labels a CBD product to contain a range of cannabinoids, including up to 0.3% THC. Take our REVIVE | CBD BLUE RAZZ GUMMIES | 20MG as an example. It’s formulated under full-spectrum, which means it contains “CBD, minor cannabinoids, and <0.3% THC.”

Broad Spectrum

This means that a product contains a range of cannabinoids excluding THC. Our “RE|VIVE | CBD MUSCLE & JOINT COOLING ROLL-ON | 2000MG” product perfectly captures that, with it having hemp extract minus THC.

In states like Idaho, where any amount of THC in a product is illegal, broad-spectrum products are perfectly legal. A product’s COA should confirm that the list of ingredients doesn’t include any trace of THC.

Isolates

An isolate is a product that contains only the cannabinoid on the label. For example, a CBD isolate would contain only CBD, with no other cannabinoids.

Interesting Fact: If you’re worried about future drug tests, be cautious with CBD products—even isolates. Some limited research suggests that, under certain conditions (like acidic environments similar to the human stomach), trace amounts of CBD could theoretically convert to THC. While this is rare, it’s a reason to still abstain from any THC-free CBD products if passing a drug test is a concern.

What CBD Spectrum is Right for Me?

Full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, or isolate—choosing the right CBD spectrum comes down to you. There’s no single “best” type, which is why we offer all three. The right choice depends on your essential goals, personal preferences, and sensitivity to specific cannabinoids. Here’s a table to help you find the right CBD blend.

SpectrumContainsBenefitsBest For
Full-Spectrum CBDCBD, minor cannabinoids, (up to 0.3%) THCProvides the strongest overall benefits. Those seeking the maximum potential of a hemp extract.
Broad-Spectrum CBDCBD, minor cannabinoidsEnjoy many entourage effect benefits without THC.For those who still want the benefits of minor cannabinoids but without THC.
CBD IsolatePure CBDNo entourage effect, but highly versatile in product application.People seeking pure CBD and those sensitive to THC.

How to Read a CBD Product Label

CBD labels reveal a lot about a product, whether on the packaging, box, or online description. Knowing how to read them helps you purchase CBD smarter and get the most value for your money. Here are some important terms you’ll frequently encounter on CBD product labels.

1. Source of CBD

  • Hemp-Derived CBD: Contains less than 0.3% THC and is federally legal. This is the most common source for consumer products and what we base our CBD products on.
  • Marijuana-Derived CBD: May contain higher levels of THC and is only legally available in licensed dispensaries in states where medical or recreational cannabis is permitted.

2. Amount of CBD

Most CBD products will indicate the amount of CBD, but it’s important to know the difference between the amount of CBD in the entire bottle and the amount of CBD you’ll get per serving.

If you see huge numbers like “500 mg CBD,” this usually refers to the amount of CBD per bottle. To know how much CBD you’re going to get per serving, look for the mg per serving or mg/ml listed under “Supplement Facts” or “Nutrition Facts.”

3. List of Ingredients

The list of ingredients indicated on the label shows the additional ingredients aside from CBD. For example, CBD oil products typically include a carrier oil, CBD gummies typically include a sweetener, and topical CBD products typically include an emollient.

4. Manufacturing/Expiration Date

Most wellness CBD products include a manufacturing date or expiration date on their label. If the label only states the manufacturing date, treat it as a reference point for estimating freshness and potency.

Here’s a table listing the average shelf-life per CBD product format:

CBD Product FormatAverage Shelf Life
CBD Tinctures/Oils12-24 months
CBD Gummies/Edibles12-18 months
CBD Softgels/Capsules18-24 months
CBD Topical12-24 months
CBD Bath Salts24 months
CBD Drinks/Powders18-24 months

5. Type of Spectrum Formulation (tells you which compounds are included)

Full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, or isolate; see “CBD Spectrums Explained” earlier on this page for what each means.

Serving Size: How Much CBD Should I Use?

For most people taking CBD on their own, there’s no universal number to aim for. Most land on their amount through consistent use over a week or two, rather than a single session. The amounts below are common starting points, not medical advice.

CBD Oils and Tinctures (Starting Amount: 10mg to 25mg once daily)

We carry three strengths in the same 30ml bottle, 2000mg, 5000mg, and 2800mg, so the higher the strength, the less you’ll need to fill the dropper to hit the same amount. A common starting amount is 10mg to 25mg once daily, held under the tongue for 30 to 60 seconds before swallowing. Absorption typically begins within 15 to 45 minutes. Check the label on your specific bottle for the exact mg per dropper, since it changes with strength.

CBD Gummies and Softgels (One gummy or softgel in a day)

Our CBD-blended gummies run 12mg to 30mg each, while softgels are stronger, 50mg to 100mg per capsule. One gummy or one softgel daily is a typical starting point, with onset in the 30 to 90 minute range since both pass through digestion.

CBD Topicals (Start light, go stronger if needed)

Pick a strength based on how much support you’re actually looking for: something lighter works well for everyday use on smaller areas, while a heavier concentration makes more sense when you’re targeting something more specific. Our topicals span a wide range to cover both ends of that spectrum, running anywhere from 200mg up to 5000mg per product.

Pet CBD

Serving size for pets works differently than for humans: since body weight varies so much between a 10lb cat and a 75lb dog, the amount scales directly with weight rather than following one flat starting range. Always check with your vet, especially for pets with existing health conditions.

Peanut butter: Delivers about 5mg of CBD per 1/4 teaspoon.

Soft chews: Come in a fixed 10mg-per-treat format.

Softgels: Each delivers a premeasured 25mg of broad-spectrum CBD, formulated for larger dogs (50lbs and up) or pets with higher needs.

Tinctures: Fully adjustable by the drop. A common starting point is 4 to 8 drops per 10 lbs of body weight.

Finding Your CBD Amount

Most people find their amount through the same basic process:

  1. Start low, usually in the range below, for whichever format you’re using, and give it about a week before deciding whether to adjust.
  2. If you’re not feeling what you want after that stretch, increase in small steps, around 5mg at a time, rather than jumping straight to a much larger amount.
  3. Keep track of how you feel, mood, sleep, focus, and any discomfort, so you have something to compare against as you adjust.

On timing specifically, our CEO, Robert Shade, adjusts by time of day: “Adjust your CBD serving based on circadian rhythms. For example, a slightly higher amount in the evening may support better sleep, while a smaller morning portion can promote focus without grogginess.”

Consistency tends to matter more than quantity with CBD, so most people do better picking an amount and holding it steady for a stretch before adjusting. If you take prescriptions, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before adding CBD, since it can interact with certain medications.

CBD Safety: What to Know Before Trying CBD

Based on guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO), CBD is generally well-tolerated, but there are important safety considerations to keep in mind before adding it to your routine.

  1. Long-term use isn’t fully studied yet: CBD is generally easy on the body, but its effects over many years of regular use still aren’t fully understood.
  2. Limited information for some life stages and ongoing conditions: There isn’t much research yet on CBD for certain life stages like expecting or for people managing certain ongoing conditions. If that might be you, it’s worth checking with a doctor before adding CBD to your routine.
  3. Amount and individual response matter: How CBD affects you can vary based on how much you take and your own sensitivity. Starting low and adjusting slowly gives you the clearest read on how your body responds.
  4. Where you buy it matters too: A current, batch-specific COA is the clearest way to know a product is actually clean and accurately labeled before you try it.

U.S. Laws on Purchasing CBD Online

Last updated July 2026. Consult your local laws before purchasing. This content is informational and not legal advice.

Hemp-derived CBD is legal at the federal level under the 2018 Farm Bill, as long as it meets the legal definition of hemp (it contains no more than 0.3% delta-9 THC). Because of this, hemp-derived CBD products for sale online can be shipped within the United States.

That said, each state has the power to set its own rules for hemp-derived CBD, which can affect whether a product can be shipped to you, age requirements, THC limits, labeling rules, and which product types are allowed. Our State Legality Guide is a good reference point for checking the current rules where you live.

We follow state rules directly: your address is checked automatically at checkout, and if a product isn’t currently allowed to ship to your state, the order won’t go through.

The legal landscape is also changing, and it’s worth understanding exactly where things stand rather than just noting that change is coming. In November 2025, Congress passed a provision redefining hemp using total THC rather than delta-9 alone, adding a cap of 0.4 milligrams of total THC per container on any finished product. That provision doesn’t take effect until November 12, 2026, a full year after it was signed, so it isn’t in force yet.

How much this actually affects CBD depends on the product: broad-spectrum and isolate CBD, formulated with no detectable THC, are largely unaffected. Full-spectrum CBD is the category with real exposure, since it carries trace THC by design, and whether a specific product stays under that cap comes down to its actual formulation and container size.

A little real-world texture: among our 848 customers, most described CBD as the mellowest of the cannabinoids they had tried, Delta 8 as noticeably lighter than Delta 9, and THCA among the most intense.

Worth knowing before you pick a column: this is not always an either-or choice. Delta 9 plus CBD was the single most common combination our respondents had tried, at roughly one in four, so plenty of customers land on a mix rather than a single lane.

FAQs

No. CBD is not intoxicating at any amount, which is the defining difference between it and THC. It does not bind to CB1 receptors the way THC does. Full spectrum products do contain a legal trace of THC, up to 0.3%, but that amount is far below what it takes to feel anything. If you want effects you can feel as a high, you are looking for our THCa or delta 9 pages instead.

Not in the way most people mean “weed.” CBD is one compound found in the cannabis plant, but hemp-derived CBD, the kind sold legally online and in stores, is required to contain 0.3% THC or less and is non-intoxicating on its own. Marijuana-derived CBD exists too, but that’s only available through licensed dispensaries in states where cannabis is legal, and it comes packaged with much higher THC levels. What we sell is the hemp-derived kind.

It depends entirely on the format. CBD oils and tinctures go under the tongue, gummies, capsules, and softgels are swallowed, and topicals are applied directly to skin rather than ingested at all. Each product page notes which category it falls into, so you’ll always know before you buy.

Effectiveness comes down to two separate things: spectrum and format. Full spectrum and broad spectrum both carry the entourage effect, the combined action of multiple cannabinoids and terpenes working together, which isolate alone doesn’t offer. Format affects how much of what you take actually reaches your bloodstream: our nano-emulsified products absorb up to five times better than standard oil-based CBD. The “right” one is the one that matches what you’re using it for and how your body responds, not a single best answer across the board.

Not in the sense of becoming unsafe, but they do lose potency over time. Ours are rated for 12 to 18 months from production when stored properly, cool, dry, and out of direct light. Past that window, you may just get less CBD per gummy than the label states, not a safety risk.

It’s possible. CBD itself isn’t what drug tests look for. Standard tests screen for THC metabolites, and pure CBD doesn’t produce them. But the product you choose changes the real answer. Full-spectrum products legally contain up to 0.3% delta-9 THC, and while that trace amount won’t get you high, regular daily use can let THC metabolites build up enough for a sensitive test to catch.

For occasional users, CBD generally clears within 2 to 5 days. For regular or heavy users, it can take weeks to months to fully clear. CBD is fat-soluble and accumulates in fatty tissue with continued use, the same reason THC lingers longer in frequent users. How long it takes for you specifically depends on frequency of use, metabolism, body fat percentage, dosage, and which product you’re taking.

That depends on what you’re looking for, but the traits worth checking for are the same everywhere: published, batch-specific COAs, US-grown hemp, and a range of spectrums and formats so you’re not locked into one option. We built The Hemp Doctor around exactly that, every product tested and verified before it’s listed, hemp grown from our own proprietary strain in Colorado and North Carolina, and a full lineup spanning full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate. Judge any store, including us, by whether it actually shows its work.

Trust comes down to track record, not marketing copy. We’ve been formulating CBD since 2018, and that track record now includes over 250,000 returning customers, more than 10,000 published reviews, and a 4.6 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot from nearly 4,000 independent reviewers. We’re also BBB-accredited. None of that replaces checking the COA on the specific product you’re buying, but it’s a reasonable place to start.

Yes, if you hold the seller to one standard: a current, batch-specific COA from an accredited third-party lab. CBD is lightly regulated at the federal level, and independent studies have repeatedly found mislabeled products on the market, some with far less CBD than claimed, some with more THC than claimed. That’s the real risk in buying CBD online, or buying CBD at all.

The COA is how you protect yourself. It confirms the CBD content, the THC level, and the contaminant results for the exact batch you are buying. Ours are linked on every product page. No COA, no purchase, no exceptions.

We do, it’s actually one of our largest categories. Delta 8 is a separate hemp-derived cannabinoid from CBD, with mild psychoactive effects CBD doesn’t have. If you’re curious, our Delta 8 page covers formats, effects, and legality in full.

Cannabidiol.
