Have Your Pet Experience the Benefits of CBD with The Hemp Doctor Products
Our pets are more than just animals. They are members of our families, and they experience highs, lows, happiness, and pain just like us. This means that they can also experience the benefits of cannabidiol (CBD). CBD has several well-established health benefits, and studies have shown that CBD’s bioavailability in pets is similar to that in humans. As a result, pet owners can safely give CBD to their pets; and, in doing so, they can often significantly improve their pets’ quality of life.
We offer a variety of pet CBD products, all of which are THC-free. While CBD naturally contains a small amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), we craft our pet CBD products without THC. On its own, CBD is completely non-psychoactive, and it provides a relaxing and soothing experience that is perfect at home and while traveling.
Why give your pets CBD?
This is a common question, and it is important to know the answer. We encourage all our customers to be informed about the products they buy—whether they are buying for themselves or their pets.
There are several reasons why you might give your dog or cat CBD. For pets, some of the main benefits of CBD may include:
- Relief from pain due to injuries or old age
- Stress relief during parties, holidays, and other gatherings
- Stress relief during kennel visits and boarding
- Relaxation during thunderstorms and other stressful events
- Relaxation and comfort while traveling
Depending on why you purchase pet CBD, you may choose to give your pet CBD daily, or you may choose to only provide your pet with CBD in certain circumstances. Both options are equally safe; and, since CBD is non-habit-forming, you don’t ever have to worry about your pet craving CBD or experiencing symptoms of withdrawal.
Will CBD Get My Pet High?
No, CBD will not get your pet high. CBD is 100% non-psychoactive. Additionally, while CBD naturally contains trace amounts of THC, this is not enough to produce a high; and, regardless, we completely remove all THC from our pet CBD products.

Dosage and What To Expect When You Give Your Pet CBD
Body weight and composition play a significant role in the proper dosage of CBD. This is equally true for humans and pets. As a result, you generally should not give your pet the same amount of CBD that you would consume yourself.
We typically recommend starting with two milligrams of CBD per 10 pounds of body weight per day. You can give your pet this amount all at once, or you can split it up between the morning and evening. If this amount of CBD does not seem to have an effect, you can slowly increase your pet’s dosage by one to two milligrams per 10 pounds of body weight.
It can take time to find the perfect amount; and, while you may want your pet to experience the benefits of CBD immediately—especially if your pet is in pain—it is important not to give your pet too much too soon. Take your time increasing your pet’s dosage; and, if you start to notice that your pet is seeming listless or lethargic, this is generally a sign that you should reduce your pet’s daily dose. Diarrhea is another common sign of mild CBD overdose as well.
Did You Know?
Not only is CBD safe for pets, but many veterinarians recommend CBD to pet owners. We even offer pet CBD products that are veterinarian-formulated.
Is Pet CBD Legal?
Pet CBD is legal under the Farm Bill of 2018. This is the law that legalized hemp at the federal level. At The Hemp Doctor, all of our pet CBD is 100% derived from hemp, and we only use our own hemp strains which are grown at federally-compliant farms in the United States.
What to Look for When Buying Pet CBD Products
What should you look for when buying CBD for your pets? There are a few key considerations to keep in mind. The first is that you want to make sure you are buying products that contain CBD derived from hemp. While CBD derived from hemp is federally legal, CBD derived from cannabis is not.
You will also want to carefully check the product’s dosage. As we discussed above, the dosage for pets can be very small—especially for light pets like cats and rabbits. While you want to make sure the products you buy contain enough CBD to be effective, you do not want to buy treats or other products that contain too much CBD for your pet.
We offer a variety of pet CBD products that are designed specifically for pets of different sizes, and our two-milligram CBD Dog Treats are especially popular with dog owners. You can give your dog just the right number of treats based on his or her weight; and, if you need to adjust your dog’s dosage, you can simply add or remove a treat from his or her daily snack.
