The Difference Between HHC vs HHCP vs THC

hemp plant

One of the biggest challenges with working in an emerging industry like hemp is staying on top of the latest cannabinoids and their impact. While many of these cannabinoids have been known for decades, and their effects on the human body have been studied, they haven’t been commercially available or publicly discussed.

Today, we’re looking at THC, HHC, and HHCP, what they are, how you can use them, and where you can get these cannabinoids. This information can help you understand if these products are right for you.

  • HHCP trumps THC and HHC when it comes to potency. If you’re a newbie, it’s best to start with a lower dose to control its intense psychoactive effects.
  • THC is famous for its euphoric, appetite-increasing, and sensory-heightened effects.
  • HHC has a milder high but is unlikely to cause paranoia and other unwanted effects often found in extremely potent compounds.

THC at a Glance

Chances are you’re familiar with THC already. THC, or Tetrahydrocannabinol, is the main psychoactive component in cannabis and is what produces the “high” commonly associated with cannabis products.

Found naturally in the cannabis plant, THC content varies among cannabis strains, resulting in different levels of potency and effects. THC is available in various forms, such as flowers, concentrates, and edibles.

HHC at a Glance

HHC, short for hexahydrocannabiol, is a hydrogenated version of THC, tetrahydrocannabinol. It’s naturally occurring but can also be manufactured synthetically with the hydrogenation of cannabis compounds. Those are serious words, but if you eat margarine, you consume a hydrogenated product.

HHC is naturally occurring and doesn’t necessarily need to be synthesized. It is found naturally in the pollen and seeds of cannabis plants.

Hydrogenation is frequently used in the food industry to make food less fatty or a flavor more potent. The process was invented in 1897, but HHC wasn’t discovered until the 1940s. It became easier to access and use as a cannabinoid during the 2020s and is now commercially available at retailers like The Hemp Doctor.

HHCP at a Glance

HHCP is an entirely synthetic cannabinoid that exists by hydrogenating the naturally occurring THCp. It is far more potent than HHC, but the experience still depends on the user.

Some people find HHCP to have similar effects to THC, while others experience it as ten times more effective than THC and more than twenty times more effective than HHC. This is because it has higher bioavailability than THC. However, individuals with higher tolerances to THC will experience less significant highs from HHCP.

While negative side effects have not been reported to HHCP yet, at The Hemp Doctor, we recommend that users begin their usage at low doses, slowly increasing them to get the desired result. You don’t want to find out that you are one of the people it affects strongly after you’ve taken too much.

Many of the HHC and HHCP products available today are created from naturally occurring Delta 8 THC in hemp. This makes the product federally compliant with the 2018 Farm Bill. However, to be entirely compliant, these products must be grown, cannabinoids extracted, and produced entirely in the United States.

Unlike HHC and HHCP, which can be derived from hemp to abide by the 2018 Farm Bill, THC remains illegal on the federal level under the Controlled Substances Act. However, THC is legal for medicinal and/or recreational use in several states.

What Effects Does Each Cannabinoid Have?

THC (especially Delta 9 THC) is famous for its psychoactive effects, with many people reporting feelings of euphoria, heightened sensory perception, and, in some cases, increased appetite. However, psychoactive THC may also lead to less desirable effects like paranoia and anxiety.

HHC is more potent than Delta 8 but less potent than Delta 9. It still produces a mild high and relaxation. The euphoric feeling it creates is less likely to cause paranoia or anxiety than Delta 9’s.

HHCP is significantly more potent than Delta 9 THC and traditional HHC. We include very small doses in our products to allow people to control their consumption to the best of their ability.

Do They Go Well Together?

HHC and HHCP can both create a euphoric feeling of relaxation, improve appetite, and induce a sense of calm. When used in combination, they contribute to the entourage effect, increasing the wellness benefits of these products overall. Adding THC to the mix may further enhance the entourage effect, but start slowly and carefully.

How does HHCP vs THC-O compare? Changes in federal enforcement have removed THC-O from the rotation for many cannabis users. If you’re looking for a replacement, a blend of HHC and HHCP might be the right mix for you!

THC vs HHCP vs HHC: A Quick Summary

There’s a lot to take in when it comes to the differences between HHC vs HHCP vs THC and where they fall within the cannabinoid world. To make sure you leave this page an expert in all three, here’s a quick summary of their key differences:

Psychoactive Properties

  • THC is highly psychoactive, producing a strong “high.”
  • HHCP is thought to be an incredibly potent cannabinoid with more pronounced effects than THC.
  • HHC offers a milder high compared to THC but is still capable of inducing feelings of relaxation and euphoric effects.

Legality

  • THC is federally illegal in the US but is legal in several states for medical and/or recreational use.
  • HHCP and HHC are federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill (as long they’re produced from legal hemp and contain less than 0.3% THC).

Source

  • THC is directly extracted from the cannabis plant, usually from strains high in THC.
  • HHCP and HHC can be derived from hemp and synthesized from other cannabinoids (like CBD or Delta-8 THC).

Effects

  • THC may induce euphoria, changes in the perception of time, and in some cases, anxiety or paranoia at larger doses.
  • HHCP is known for its highly potent effects, which may be too intense for some users.
  • HHC is considered a middle ground between the two, typically providing a more manageable high that’s less likely to cause anxiety or paranoia.

Now that you know the difference between HHC and HHCP and how THC compares to the two, you can make an informed decision about whether you want to venture into the world of Hexahydrocannabinol products.

How Do I Start with HHC and HHCP?

If you’re new to experimenting with cannabinoids, we recommend starting with lower doses of HHC and our Delta 9 products before moving on to HHCP. While we love our HHCP products, they are best for people with great experience with cannabinoids.

If you’ve been using our products for some time and are looking for something new and exciting, HHCP is the best option.

We’re so excited about this product’s physical and wellness potential that we’ve been using it ourselves to see how even our high-tolerance Hemp Doctor family responds.

Let’s just say it’s highly effective.

There are many options for consuming HHC and HHCP, including edibles, flowers, and vapes. All of these are safe and tested at The Hemp Doctor.
